AE82...Any ideas why they used 4 spoke rims on the rear instead of 5. I only just noticed

They must have a very nice museum somewhere...

The rear having 4 spokes might be a weight thing, since its fwd,, i didn't think it mattered that that extra spoke wasn't there since the power is from the front.

Tho seriously I wonder there the AE82 and AE92 are ?
The AE86 is in the Bathurst motor racing museum in the front window

I know there was 2 AE92 FX-GT’s Re-badged to SX corolla. But No one knows there they ended up, For all I know they could have been stripped down and sold.

I have been told they used the Smallport bottom end and a Bigport head ,,
not sure what throttle body or bodys they had or what size cams they would have had but yeh

AE92
1 (TRA)is in SA in a private collection
2 (TRA)was written off
3 (private) converted to rally if i remember correctly
4. dunno

i looked into this a while back wanting to see exactly what they ran, contacted RPM (sponcered by toyota) and they got back to me with what i just said, and thats all i got off them.

Hey just thought i would ask if anyone know's what kind of suspension setup the AE82's were running? It sits so flat!!!!! I raced mine last weekend and got the pic's back and it has WAY to much body roll :(
Any help will be great :D

Cheers Ben.

I was thinking the same thing to myself just then, "How do they keep all 4 wheels on the ground? "

I would say some sort of adjustable coil overs and nice sway bars and the back body is all reinforced with a roll cage

if you look at the 5ht pic down the AE92 front on shot ,, look the camber of the front wheels

Edit:

Just an idea of some racing AE92 set ups

Was wondering what a 4 door AE82 would look like, They are lighter then AE92’s so are better :P and 4 door easy to get body parts in AUS :P

So looks ok for a paint job lol

On ABC2 the other night they played the 1988 Sandown 500. Plenty of AE82 and AE86 Toyotas in there, but you should see how quickly they get rounded up by the Sierra Cosworths, those things were mega!!!
