i am, but the way i see it, if its built and tuned right, there is no reason it wont run fine. especially if the teh correct fuel, and sprak systems are set up it should be sweet. worse comes to worse, and it detonates too much, i replace the HG with a thicker one again. small price to pay, but well worth it IMO.

well..as stated before, my car was dynoed and put down 95.5 hp at the wheels..but now, after seeing that the engine had 2 exhaust cams in it, we replaced the one that was controlling the intake valves for a normal intake camshaft (now everything's how it should be)..now the engine pulls much harder..rev limit was raised to 8k rpm..but the car needs to be dynoed again..and I don't know when that'll happen..lol but with the new camshaft the car also runs smoother and that's always good lol

the in and ex cam's on 16v's are 100% identicle, cept for the ex cam has the gear on it for the dizzy, the inlet cam just has a the blank there, with no gear cut out..

sounds like to me you may have had a different version ex cam (small port for example) there, the small port factory cams are identicle to eachother, but they have different opening and closing times compared to the bigport ones which are identicle to eachother, then ofcourse there is duration/lift differences also..

OR.. you may have had them a tooth in/out of eachother..

no,

he must have used the cams that wern't off the exact same engine.. like a smallport ex cam.. they don't have part numbers actually written on them, there not the hardest things to tell apart buy touch, but to the untrained eye they all look like bump sticks..

but if you had a smallport AE92 4AGE, the in and ex cams are identicle.. this is why the cam gears have 2 locations to have the pin in..

I don't know..but like, with the two exhaust cams the engine never worked properly..giving light throttle to like, start moving, the car would bog or the intake would kinda backfire..we've gone over the timing millions of times and we never got it to work properly..now that we have changed the camshaft the engine works pretty smooth..the car doesn't bog like it used to and it doesn't backfire anymore..the intake noise also sounds different..the engine reacts better also..I don't know if it was a smallport exhaust cam or not..but I'm just saying what happened..maybe you're right..I have no idea lol

I havent done it yet. I just have all the parts now finally. the old owner tried installing them but couldnt get them to seal. i then found that the manifold was warped, so had it machined etc and made nice and straight and smooth. now i've netted an ecu, and am just waiting for uni holidays when i will install it all. the only thing now is trying to source an adequate balance tube. you can get one off the shelf from twos-r-us in canada, but i wanna see if i can just ghetto something up myself first.

I should also point out that I'm only doing this because I got the quads and manifold adaptor for free with my car, if you're gonna do an itb conversion from scratch I would just turbo instead. It will work out around the same $$$ but much more power and better drivability.

edit; added to msn

sorry for the rebirth, but instead of using a vacuum Manifold block could i tap off the intake plenum for signals for the brake booster, fuel reg and map sensor,

or is it better to run the vacuum block with signals from each ITB?

thanks

Hullo Matty; it's been 4 years since you posted this so hopefully more info has come to light regarding this conversion.

I have an import AE92 with a Bigport that I'm freshening up the motor on. I am getting the Head ported and will be running Tomei 264 Cams.

I decided to take the opportunity to convert it to Quads so I ordered the T3 Adaptor and bought a set of B/T ITB's a few days ago; I only started reading these posted AFTER I bought the Quads and obviously didn't do enough research beforehand because I had the option of B/T or S/T Quads & chose the B/T's - bad move as I'm finding out. . At any rate the guy @ wreckers seems a pretty decent bloke so I'm hoping he'll swap them over. . .

Can you please verify the following as I want to make sure I have the basic facts correct before making my next move;

1. I should swap the B/T ITBs for S/T units as there will be much less machining / match porting required btween Adaptor & ITB
2. I need an aftermarket ECU (i.e. Adap[tronic) to make these work properly
3. I need to get a RWD Water pump and RWD Exhaust Cam Cover to avoid butchering the Adaptor
4. Other stuff I haven't picked up yet. . .

Please advise as I had some stuff on order(i.e. new FWD Water Pump+Thermostat, B/T ITB Gaskets No. 1 & 2) & at Powdercoaters (i.e. B/T Surge Tank) that I need to change / retrieve ASAP)

I would like an idiots guide as I'm pretty much a novice at this kind of stuff but I would like to try and set up the conversion myself - I've never dicked around with ECU's / Tuning before & need to know what equipment I will need.

Any help would be much appreciated. . . .
