I'm still riding my across and loving it.
we need to get a headcount cos many people only post here when their bike has a problem. maybe all the acrosses are in a smooth running patch

The new generation does f##k all apart from asking for advice if that,
As people grow up and move on the younger guys should have taken over.
Lastly the managment have done nothing to avoid this by brodering the forum to Bandits and other Suzukis.
Any how that is my 2 cents

And what per chance would the name of these forums be Mr Illusive?
Yes this place has died off, the opportunity was missed long ago because members at the time did not want to seperate from the car guys. No offence to the coroola guys, but motorcycles aint cars. Most riders dissasociate from car forums so new members have been far and few inbetween.

I talked to a bike salesman and was considering testing out a 600 with him that day and he said no, cos he's at a ride day and invited me to stop by and have a look see. Might see if I can take that test ride on Friday

They sat here day after day biatching and whining with very little riding, and as i cruise back through the forums I still see the same names biatching and whining...
This forum died a long time ago.............

It seems like mine is the town bike that get ridden every time someone rings me up and says "Dude, I've just stacked my bike, can I borrow your Across?".....I didn't name her Bardot for nothing
Oh, and as for James, I'll leave him to tell the story.

OK James, what's the story? If you're riding burn's across you must be alright.

Well I finally got around to visit back here
Not much of a story. I was just heading home from a late night Maccas Mistake (~1:30am I think), a couple of K's from my house.
Did my usual hoony stint on these roads I know "tool well" (big lesson; don't get complacent!! EVER!!!), pop it up pulling out of maccas, down and brake hard for the right-angle corner at the end, planning to slide the back out a bit, then I see a glass bottle a few CM from my front wheel.
I hit the bottle (it was smashed afterwards), but I image I freaked out and grabbed more front brake. With the full weight of the bike on the front wheel, and the back probably already out about 15 degrees, everything SMACKED the ground very very quickly
Probably doing 50 or 60 when I hit, then we just slid a few metres, up a gutter (driveway part likely) and into a fence.
No major injuries, just a few bruises and I've healed up 99% by now (after 3 or 4 weeks I think?).
Buelly sustained the usual damage along one side; bent mirror, handlebar, gear lever and linkage, scratches, a few snapped bolts, etc.
Also (another) midly nasty dent in the frame which I'm not worry about (a new frame is about the same as my insurance excess anyway, so I don't care much
I got it back on the road with about $15 of stuff from Bunnings and Woolworths, + extra for some metalworking tools I didn't already have.
Still waiting for some parts from the US to fix it up a bit nicer (apart from the frame and swingarm).
But essentially it's fine now, and looks quite rustic :
Still has a few other issues, but they're unrelated. More to do with regularly being submerged in water & cooked in the sun, and me messing with complicated things I probably shouldn't touch.
As for this forum...
I'd love to catch up with more of the friends I've made through here, and I do still see a lot of you's.
I'm happy to help out with rides and stuff where I can, but I feel a bit of lack of enthusiasm from the newer crowd, so I just can't justify much, when I could be out riding in the bush with Jacob (Vash) and Andt.

Anywayz, how u doin? Long time no see. Howdy to the other lurkers on here who i know too!
After getting it all back on the road for around $1800 (new tyres, full service, rego etc) ive been enjoying my firestorm once again.
I even managed to rack up my first licence infringement EVER EVER. They got me doin 70 in a 60 zone...ha! Only $78, but fingers crossed i can get out of it.
I think i might sell my baby though, i really wanna get somethin a little less petrol hungry, and a little more sensible for sydney roads (i never leave the inner city really).
PS I bought myself a 2BR unit. And it only cost me $160K! (Lakemba though)

As for the fine, if your licence is clean request a section 10. Basically its an admittance of guilt but asks to be let off on the grounds that you made a minor mistake. Only works the once however. Pays to play dumb and just ask to be let off, mentioning a section 10 letts on you have been researcing ways to get out of it.

Interest rates have seen to it that I have no money an upgrade, no money for modding the across, no money for track days, no money for un-neccessary rides (cos it leads to new tyres, maintainance and more petrol).
I can't see my finances getting any better either.

This site and the Across maintanence site have helped in replacing the throttle slides eliminating the flat spot/roughness up to 8k. Did an oil change last weekend too.
My housemate and a mate at work went on the L's course with me and both own Across's now
