As expected really, they couldn't have done it all over again next season. So what happens next? Well most of the media believes that the most likely scenario is that Alonso will go to Red Bull as they're the only team who can afford him as well as having good potential. Flavio's other managed driver, Webber, would then move to Renault to replace Kovalainen who would take Alonso's place at McLaren. Making a switch to Red Bull even more likely is the rumor that McLaren's release of Alonso stipulates that he cannot drive for another manufacturer team, which rules out the other possible options at Toyota and Renault. Of course I'd rather see a straight swap between Alonso and Webber, but if Webber ends up at Renault it's not such a bad thing, at least their cars are pretty reliable!

Fingers crossed for a good outcome for Webber. :)

I was waiting for this to come out eventually.

So we might be looking at this kind of team board for 2008:

McLaren - Kovalainen
Renault - Webber
Red Bull - Alonso

That is strange to look at, but why not, it's F1 and when it comes to driver/team combos, anything goes! Maybe we might see another Damon Hill in the Arrows giving the front a run for their money - hopefully with somewhat more success too.

If Webber goes to Renault lets make bets on how long before he's out with a "Hydraulics Failure" :P

It'd be great to see Webber @ McLaren.

webber is so ordinary its not funny. he is a useless hack and does not know the meaing of quickness. he is very good at blaming his cars and the reliability issues rather than giving more input to his team to make it better. As for alonso, i think this may be the driver lineup for next year:

Mclaren - Rosberg/Hamilton
Renault - Kovalinon/Alonso (Fischicella out perhaps to bmw to replace rosberg?)
Red Bull - Webber/Coulthard

bear in mind that webber has a contract and red bull would have to pay him out if they wanted to replace him with alonso. atm tho i'm sure webber wouldn't mind a change for something more reliable :P

All the input in the world from a driver won't fix the fact that the team doesn't know how to completely fix the problem. It's a rare thing in F1 for a team to not know what a problem is - more often than not, they just can't fix it.

Oh, and Webber seems to know the meaning of quickness quite well when it comes to qualifying. In just about every race he's ever been in he's out-qualified his team-mate (and when your team-mate this season is DC, that at least adds some credentials)

True, but Williams could definitely do with the cash that McLaren would pay to break Rosberg's contract. Everyone has a price...

haha LH has said the new driver needs to be a 'team player' ie less ambitions than him...i mean, hows he gonna cope if the new driver turns out to be just as competitive as him?

I know you love Fisi TD, but I seriously can't see him being around next year after the year he's had.
