My new ride is a 1990 KF Laser TX3

it was N/A but after i carried out a conversion myself i installed the turbo motor from the awd turbo version but i still kept my front wheel drive box so traction is abit of a problem. below is the list of mods so far:

Performance:

1.8L BPT conversion
4inch Pod Filter
Custom Stainless steel Exhaust Manifold
VF28bb Turbo
Custom 3inch Turbo back exhaust with High flow Turbo cat
Cannon muffler with 4 inch tip
600x250x75 bar and plate FMIC
Turbosmart Veeport BOV
Greddy Profec b spec 2 EBC
Remote Oil filter with oil cooler

Gearbox:

Mazda Speed Viscious LSD
PAR Straight cut 1st - 4th gears with double synchros
Billet Crown wheel and Pinion Gears
Custom Bearing Plate with stronger casing
NEO Platinum racing 75 90hd tranny fluid
Custom CV's

Handling:

ROH 16inch Rims wrapped in
Yokohama Advan A048 Semi slicks on front
Bridgestone Potenza RE001 Adrenalins on rear
King springs lows front and rear
KYB Shocks front and rear
Whiteline Sway Bar front and rear
Nolethane Bushs Front and rear
Whiteline Strut Brace front and rear

Brakes

Custom Liberty RS Turbo 2 pot Calipers with Mazda V6 Hubs Front
270mm MX5 Turbo RDA Slotted Disc Brakes Front
Green stuff Pads front
Reconditioned Standard Rear Calipers
RDA Slotted Discs rear
Firepower Pads rear

Interior:

Bride style recliner Bucket racing seats
SAS Steering wheel

Future mods

New Custom Exhaust Manifold with External Waste gate and New dump Pipe
Haltech E8 ECU (to be installed and Tuned)
Custom Intake Manifold (to be installed with ECU)
RX7 550cc Injectors, malpassi fuel reg and sard Fuel gauge (to be installed with ECU)
NOS
Possibly BCF Coilover kit
H beam rods
unsure about type of pistons
Head work (port and polish)
Also would like a nice paint job but undecided with color

So far have achieved a 13.316 on 13.5psi with Lsd and vf28 bb turbo but traction was an issue with yokohama semis as they are made for cornering not drags.

IM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT!!! :balloon:

and yes as sam said i did deal with Gerard and i mentioned your name (Pyromanic) and he knew you as well. Gerards a bloody top bloke, he showed me what parts they will be using and showed me what double synchros were compared to single also showed me different types of flywheels and main shafts. Im glad i took it to get done by gccorp and will recommend them to everyone who is willing to pay the cash for a straight cut gear set, which he also informed me of another mods that i can have carried out to my gearbox to exstend its life and relaibility. I cant waite until i get 1st n 2nd done but will have to waite till next year most likely.

Im hoping to get out this wednesday or next wednesday to take it for another run down WSID if all goes well and try n crack a 13.5 but will say how it goes

ive never heard of someone doing 3rd and 4th gears but not 1st and 2nd gears... lol

i know you'll eventually do them, but its just a little weird cause i've heard of people only doing 1st and 2nd and not 3rd and 4th, but not the other way around...

anyway, sounds like you've got a little beast on your hands... well done..

Yeaha you would think so but nah i did a hefty search on Fordlaser.com + astinagt.com and everyone always says 3rd blows so i though id do 4th as well cause there the main gears u use. 1st lol i doubt it would go cause u never get traction, but 2nd will blow if u slam 2nd's but hoping i get 12month out of it and leave 1st and 2nd till then to fix up. the order of weak gears i think is 3,2,4,5,1 but cant be too sure, it's on the laser forums. it all depends on the oil you use and how you drive determines on what brakes

Last run on the old turbo and YAY im now a 13.825!!!

couldnt get a good 60ft time but ive got old bold tyres on it which disadvantaged me badly and im still not use to launching with lsd. hopefuly with a new set of tyres id crack my 60 ft and possibly be in the 13.6's
but i guess its not bad for a stock motor with stock ecu n turbo

Hey mate where and how much did you get the LSD and gearset from. I have a friend with a laser making 230+kw atw and he always blows his gearbox's. He's up to his 5th box and is now looking at upgrading the box.

the lsd i got it thru a family member who lives in the states from mazda for 510 delievered, itll normaly cost 710 around that but was able to get a discount cause at the time he owned a mazda vechile in the states and they give him a loyalty discount. best thing for your mate to do is have a look at fordlaser.com and read up on things he can do to make his gearbox stronger so then he can justify how much he wants to spend . i payed 2500 for 3rd n 4th straight cut double synchro(which it does cost a little more for double synchros but gear changes are alot easier into 3rd and 4th) and included fitment of the lsd. soo all up it was around 3k for it all installed.

here is the link to fit the LSD in, if your not to a mechanic then dont try it yourself best to pay someone as things fall out when you open the box and you gotta know were they go : http://www.fordlaser.com/viewtopic.php?t=56827
