holy cow it's been a while since my last post, about a year now if that!

JULY/AUGUST 2010
The good use is that I still have the car and the bad is that I've spent a solid few grand since haha. One day the head gasket decided to suddenly let go so I decided to pull it off the road and over-haul the top end. That meant, new rebuilt head with ports cleaned up, bigport camshafts for slightly more lift and duration, thinner 1.0mm TODA head gasket for a small raise in compression, new GMB water pump, new reinforced and strengthened head bolts from Japan, Greddy/TRUST timing belt, new ancillary belts and a coolant flush. After those were fitted, I then went and had the ignition adjusted to 12 degrees; 2 above the standard 10 at BTDC

NOVEMBER
After the engine work was done, I decided to buy another set of wheels, new (old stock) semi slicks and camber bolts. I then came off retirement and went racing at Winton.

With the new 14 x 6.5 IMPUL RS wheels and RE55S semi slicks

Fujitsubo FGK Main Factory muffler. I got EPA'd and had to get rid of the X-Force twin tip and for a while was using a 2inch pea shooter, so the FGK is a nice change

Oh yeh so I went racing...
Posted Image
.. and learnt that the Honda boys have some catching up to do, VTEC or not.. :P
Managed to better my PB going 1.48.3850 (pic has a typo) from 1.49.1250; despite the engine work and more camber, I couldn't get it lower due the low temperature day

And then I got a Chaser as a daily

Alright so I lie, it's actually my brothers'. Well it was until some knob ran a light and totalled the JZX100. Brother is ok, car has been wrecked since.

DECEMBER

Decided that I couldn't drive on my race wheels forever so forked out and got some 15 x 8 AXIS OG wheels (currently for sale). Such a robust wheel and with good fitment (+25 offset), they sure turned heads! I also replaced the Toyota badge with a another (JDM) one. You can also see the Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) canards attached too.

After a long hiatus, I decided to go overseas as I had finished studying and celebrate somewhat with some good friends.

Upon returning, I figured that I didn't really need a full time job (..just yet anyway) and would take some time off from looking for full time employment and enjoy the finer things in life, for now.

One day, I decided that I didn't have a real need for my Enkei RPF1's or IMPUL RS wheels anymore, so I listed them for sale and well, they sold. I sold the IMPUL wheels with the semi slicks so the guy got a ripper bargain.

The AXIS wheels attracted some attention so I went and purchased something more subtle; 949 Racing 6UL wheels in a staggered fitting. 15x8 +36 fronts and 15x7 +36 rears, why? strut clearance is an issue with the AE92, we don't have a whole heap of space to work with at the rear unless I had coilovers.

In amongst this, I made the decision to go track racing again. So, I organised for a Private Group with the upcoming Winton day just like I had in November. With the track day coming up, I pondered what could I do to make the car go/handle slightly better....?

A lighter battery! A fundamental key with track racing is weight. Reduce it and you'll get better braking/acceleration/turn in and funnily enough; mileage. Back to the point, I purchased a DEKA battery which is made from the US. My Exide came in at a porky 14.7kg, the DEKA is 5.0kg on the dot. 9.7kg from the front corner of the car, gone. Awesome!

Then got into a disagreement with my bank account and wallet and purchased some more goods
Exedy H/D clutch and clutch plate
Extreme chromoly 4.0kg flywheel
ARP flywheel bolts (not pictured)
RDA front slotted rotors
Penrite SIN brake fluid
Penrite HPR10 engine oil
Royal Purple gearbox fluid
Genuine Toyota Rear Main seal and oil filter

Decided to change the Rear Main while the gearbox was off as it was logical. My current RDA rotors are past minimal thickness from all the previous track days so I needed another pair. Car did have an Exedy H/D clutch but I may as well change it while the flywheel went in as it (the previous clutch) has seen 9 track days and some 50,000 road k's.

And currently, this is what I just purchased

Bridgestone RE55S semi slicks, 205/50/R15 in SR (hard) compound.

Car is booked in for a dyno run this coming Saturday, a track day at the end of the month and have paid for a Private Track Day in early May. As of currently, the clutch has been bedded in and is more responsive to throttle inputs, have a 'suprise' installed so stay tuned.

For the record; I've join the new forums hence why I'm never/seldom on here.

Thanks for looking

Seen you a few times around town in the last few weeks, your car is clean as!

I must say, this is one of the sickest 'Rollas out there!

Any plans for taking her back onto the track?

You wouldn't have a black 06/07 STi by any chance would you? As for my car being clean.. "Good from far, far from good" haha

hey mate been watching you build this thing fore a while now and the car has come up really good, what tyres & brake pads are you running on this car to achive those times?

I have always used QFM pads. They are affordable and work very well, oh and the last awhile too and don't squeal. As for tyres, on semi slicks; I've used the ADVAN A048's to good effect but the last PB was set on Bridgstone Potenza RE55S (M compound) but low temperature day meant I couldn't make the most of it. Previously, I had Kumho KU36s and did 5-6 track days on them and they are a solid bang for your buck tyre. An important issue with tyres is tyre pressure, you really need to get it right to get the best times. By adjusting it, I've managed to go faster by about 1/2 a second but don't tell the turbro boys that :P

Nah, Had an '04 Subaru 2.5RS, but due to running costs dont drive it anymore, being on Ps and insurance and all...
So I 'upgraded' and now Im driving a stock red 102, which i took to the fun day at winton in Jan, and Im currently tidying up a little AE82 to start tracking. :)

LOL Still reckon it looks great!! Has that rough-ish club racer look to it + stance! And it goes hard too!! ticks all the boxes in my opinion! haha

One more thing, where do you get all your wheels from?

Hopefully Ill see you around!
Take care!

Yeh me too, so thought id try them out at the racetracks. Managed to spin 360 degree and fly right off the circuit into the dirt/gravel; wheels not broken. Then went off again twice: wheels not broken. Boom, Rotas aren't bad: people are just naive and stupid, follow the flock like sheep.

Managed a new pb: 1.47.8410

Hey mate, love the sx. I got a question, i have a sx seca and and i tried to change my dash lights to red led's. it all worked but the lights were just really dull and the little switch to turn up the brightness in the light didn't work at all. Did you do anything different? or did you just pull your old lights out and put your new 1's in like me?? Because your (in the picture) look about 5 times brighter then mine. haha

I tried the LED's and they are absolutely useless. I went and got some quality Phillips amber bulbs and have never looked back. They look alot better than the tacky blue LEDs and better than the stock green/white lights
