took some comparo pics just as i finished work now

stock ADM rear sway versus what was on the halfcut
Posted Image
Posted Image

The halfcut rear sway is significantly thicker, however it has no markings or anything on it to identify it. It looks as if it could even be stock.... could the handling upgrade pack they had in JDM-land also have included a thicker rear sway??

so. after an *extremely* sketchy drive the faildub has found its new resting home at drifty's place, where it will be going for engine number three, and that's just in the time i've owned it :P
winding our way up the freeway constantly checking it hadnt gone flying off in true adub fashion

and finally there

well as i said on the cruise. the car was gonna be either

1) fine or

2) proper f##ked

as it turns out....... its fine :D the supercharger tensioner pulley somehow had come off, yet the engine didnt overheat or seize or anything even though i drove it like that for quite a while before i realised something was up.

so now i'm getting the fialdub ready for the feb 12 trackday at wakefield park instead :D

GL Vito, i will be praying for you.
BTW having towed two of my own cars with little experience prior, how un-nerving is driving with ur car suspended on a trailer?! ESPECIALLY on the freeway!

Well, more fail. as most of you know. I have a GZE in an n/a bodyshell. this requires the use of all the n/a mounts. Now i know why the engine was so hard to get in when we did the swap..... we used the s/c gearbox mount :P So now I'm trying to rectify the problem. Picked up what was supposed to be an n/a mount yesterday.

Posted Image

on the left, what is supposed to be an n/a aw11 gearbox mount.... but is not and thus is useless (looks to be out of a corolla instead)
on the right, an s/c aw11 mount..... which is also useless unless I wanna force it in again like last time, which is bodgy and probably explains why the rear end has felt so skittish since I did the swap.

Toyota have no n/a aw11 gearbox mounts in stock, so the s/c one is gonna have an appointment with mr hacksaw and mr grinder tonight.

Fun times

looks like fun mate...yeah i steered away from EBC green after chatting to guy at brake shop...said they are great..if tracking constantly, street driving take a bit to heat up and are extremely coarse and eat rotors for breakfast ......nice rims btw love them

f##k that lol

Faildub update
1) Engine mounts, tightened
2) Bucket seat, in
3) 164mm crank pulley, on
4) gauges, wired up
5) abv, goneski :D
Posted Image
6) swaybar, failed install (dont have mounting points on chassis even though my struts have tabs!!!!)
Posted Image
finger pointing to where second bolt hole should be but isnt

started car up at this point. all good

7) ebc redstuffs, installed

tried starting car again to take for a spin. no dice. has fuel, has spark, cranks away but wont catch. f##k MY LIFE

only possible explanation i can have is that water might have got into the coil or dizzy, i cleaned the plugs, did nothing.

If you have spark then the coil/dizzy is working.

Howd you check your spark/fuel etc.

fuel, plugs were wet with fuel. could smell it after cranking a few times too

spark, took one of the plugs out and had it sparking on the cam covers. there is no other reason why it would stop working like that. all we did was change the front pads ffs!!!

WD40 the s##t out off the dizzy then.

If the coil was stuffed you wouldnt be getting spark.

ECU drama?

fuel air spark. you say you have all 3 so it should start.

Id say check the injector pulse.

if the spark is strong (sounds like it is if its bridging) then Im guessing something is wrong with the fuel side of things.

I think you should have a video recorder attached to you on the day, recording non stop, because something will inevitably fail, even if its someone else's car that your car was parked next to or something.

what do the kuhmo's set ya back? let me know if they hold up well

BUY ME!
