Hi there,
I know alot of you guys do track work etc, and im enquiring as to what is needed to fulfill requirements to compete in a track day.
Im talking as far as helmets, typical scrutineering requirements etc. and how they would differ for motorkhana, track or rally.
I have been reading up a little but cant find anything thats too conclusive which I would put down to the fact that each event would have different requirements for participation.
Any help is great help!
Thanks

I'm not 100% on the circuit, but for a test and tune at the drags, you need a helmet with the five ticks (Australian standards) a motorbike helmet will do, long sleeves and pants, closed footwear and a valid drivers license.
That's not including a car that's compliant with the respective rules.

General rule of thumb is a helmet which has the as/nzs1698 approval sticker, long sleeve pants and shirt, closed footwear and a fire extinguisher. Whether it's stipulated or not in the rules you shouldnt do a trackday without all of these things as a minimum.

Are you planning on hitting the tracks? If so, let me know when/if you do and I'll do my best to join you. I think Ben (OSODVS) is pretty keen too.
Anyway at the Winton track day I attended the following things were needed/tested:
-ADR approved Helmet
-ADR approved 1kg fire extinguisher
-extra bonnet catch/latch
-long sleeved clothes with closed end shoes. Covers the body
-No loose items in the cabin
During scrutineering they made sure the battery/bucket seat was properly secured, the headlights were masked (in case they broke), tow hook points decaled/stickered and that the car had no oil leaks.

that sounds more like CAMS style regs above. open trackdays are not so tight on the scrutineering

At our track days you need:
- Long sleeve shirt and long pants
- Ticked helmet
- Empty car (no s##t floating around)
- CAMS license or a on the spot track license (can be bought for 50 ish per year)
I recommend you need:
- extra bonnet catch (you can use these metal clips and thick wire)
- Oil, spare pads if you're keen, brake fluid, coolant (just covering all bases)
As Vito said, at CAMS events the folk are more strict, and want stickered Tow hooks, location of battery stickered, NO OIL LEAKS, secondary catch etc.
