Hi all,

Just a quick post to let you know my current plans for twincam.org

As you know, I recently became self-employed, so I no longer receive a nice pay check each fortnight! I had thought that TC may be a good source for a few leads given our large membership, but despite a few initial replies to my thread, not a single person replied to my numerous PMs or emails. I don't know why people bothered replying to the thread and then ignored my emails, but anyway... I have moved on! :)

So I've done some thinking over the last week or two and have decided that I need to sell TC in order to make some sort of return on the $50+ per month that I've been pumping into it since 1999 or thereabouts, as the various sponsorships, donations and Google ads have never gone close to meeting costs.

I have no idea what the site is worth or how much it will sell for. I'm going to set a minimum price, as I'm not going to let it go for a few hundred bucks to some school kid who's going to run it into the ground, but I haven't decided on that amount yet.

The site will be advertised on Flippa.com within the next week or so, and will include the forums and the twincam.org and twincam.info domains.

What I'd really like to see is the TC community get together to buy the forums, rather than someone else taking ownership. This would probably involve members making donations into a "fighting fund" which would hopefully raise sufficient funds to beat the highest offer obtained through Flippa.com. I can't say how the ownership structure would work, but presumably the current admin/moderator team would continue to run it as is, and hopefully seek further sponsorship or whatever to keep the forums running.

You guys will have to generate support for the buyout idea and manage the fund, as obviously there would be a conflict of interest if i was organising a fund to buy an asset from myself!

So there you go. I know there will probably be some negativity around this, but I hope you understand why I'm making this decision.

I'll make a post in the general section once you guys have had a chance to read and understand what's happening.

Cheers
Shane.
