Hi all. I've been a member of this forum for quite some time. Just thought I'd post some photos of my 1993 Corolla SE Limited AE100. It's a 5-speed manual with a body that has done 230,000km (142,000 miles) and a 5A-FE engine that has done 60,000km (37,000 miles).

The mods so far include:

* Lowered on 40mm Jamex springs.
* Rolled rear guards.
* Optional strut brace.
* Monroe GT Reflex gas shocks.
* 17" alloy wheels with Hankook 205/40/17 tyres.
* Pod filter with with 3" CAI (cold air induction).
* Custom exhaust manifold and front pipe (4-2-1).
* Removed the catalytic converter.
* Resurfaced front discs.
* Sony Xplod head-unit, Sony 6.5" 4-way front speakers (300w max, 75w RMS), and a Sony 444w amp.
* Sprinter GT front seats.
* Painted valve cover red.
* Chrome Simota oil cap (not shown in photos).

It's my daily driver so I haven't gone too crazy with the mods so far, but I hope to eventually do a 4A-GE 20v conversion sometime in the future. I've owned it for just under 2-years so far, and am hopefully buying a new set of wheels within next few weeks.

Comments welcome:

Thanks for the welcome man. Will do. I've got aftermarket sideskirts and a 2.25" full exhaust in the shed too, so will update once I get those installed also.

Here's some more photos that wouldn't fit in the first post:

Thanks mate. It's definitely the most reliable car I've ever owned. I dropped the side-skirts off at the painters today so I'm looking forward to getting those on.

Feel free to add me on CarDomain if you've got an account.

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've been on these forums. A few things have changed since the last pics.

Since then I've added a:

* Full 2" exhaust with Dynomax muffler and 2x resonators.
* BMW M3 boot lip spoiler.
* 17" Advanti Photon alloy wheels (Hyper Silver).
* Toyota Sprinter GT seats + folding rear seat conversion.
* AE101 FX-GT factory option Momo leather steering wheel.
* OEM Lexus IS200 aluminium foot pedals.
* Painted front/rear bumper lips.
* Custom engine bay stickers.

Pics (new wheels pictured in the last few pics) -

Thanks man.

Here's some latest pics. I got the car tinted 35% yesterday. It's called "Night Rider" and is the darkest legal tint available (darker than the average 35%). The first three pics are before the tints were installed:

I decided to return to a couple of my favourite photo locations the other day as I haven't been back since installing my new wheels and window tint. Here's how they came out:

Thanks! :D

I installed this yesterday - An ultra rare OEM optional extra called an 'Air Fantasy'. It works by pushing air from the A/C evaporator housing, through the hose into one of the nipples on the selected Air Fantasy scent cartridge, which carries the scent through to the second nipple on the selected scent cartridge, out through the hose to the heater unit and gets distributed through the front vents.

Also bought some other very rare optional extra parts from my local junkyard - 6.5" rear speaker brackets, remote central locking switch, and an air purifier:

Yep I take all of the photos myself, using a Canon EOS 450D DSLR. Glad you like them :)

Yeah a 4A-GE 20v swap is my ultimate goal. I can get low km engines (under 100,000km) here for a good price but unfortunately don't have the money right now. I'd use the C56 5-speed transmission as the C160 6-speed isn't as reliable (prone to crunching in 2nd) and the ratios aren't as good as the 5-speed. My current 5A-FE engine has only 60,000km, but I'd love to do the 4A-GE swap sometime :D

4A-GE 20V for what amount offered to buy? and if you put such an engine and probably have to change the rear brakes to disc? If you leave the drum is at a high speed and high revs for a long time to slow down ...

I can pick up a low km 4A-GE 20v Blacktop, including the gearbox, loom and ECU for about $1000-1200 NZD. Only 20% of the braking is done on the rear, but yes, I'd also upgrade the rear drums to discs :thumbsup:

The 6 speed is reliable, people say they are not, because nearly everyone who has the 6 speed know what the car is, so they thrash them around more than most people who have the 5 speed versions :). The ratios are closer on the 6 speed as well which is actually better.

Guys in NZ are using the 6 speeds for racing! and not having an issue, the most important thing is to run a good g/box oil.

Blacktop 20v swap!

That is one clean rolla you have there. So nice to see car enthusiasts look after there cars!!! Have you had the 5afe dynoed yet?? If so what power figures?

I am with Bazda, go 20v Blacktop. Strong, strong, strong. I prefer the 6-speed and also have friends who race with the six speed. I prefer shorter gear ratios.

Anyways goodluck man and see you around.

Thanks for the info. I've always read that the 6-speed isn't as reliable, but like you said, they probably thrash them a whole lot more since they know what they are. It's a bit like when I see a BZ Touring on TradeMe with a pod filter whacked on the end of the intake pipe. I always get the feeling that it's been thrashed, as opposed to the ones with the standard air box still in place. Ideally, I'd want a Blacktop 20v that has come out of a Carib BZ Touring automatic, as chances are that it hasn't been thrashed, or at least not as much :)

Cheers for the compliment! I take care of my car better than I take care of myself sometimes Posted Image. Some might say that I'm obsessed, or at least when it comes to taking photos of it. I haven't taken the 5A-FE on the dyno yet unfortunately, but that's something I really want to do. Would be interesting to see what kind of power it makes in it's current form. I'm really going to have to move that up my 'to do list' :thumbsup:

Here's one more shot that I haven't posted before:

I love these OEM add ons for the car man. Looking nice and clean. What plans have you got for the engine in the future?
