I have ae95r wagon all wheel drive 1988 with a 4afe 1.6 injected 16valve motor.
I have now checked and removed the air control valve, it opens in boiling water,not much, but enough
The oxy sensor,the valves for the 4wd diff
The timing advance with a timing light
any possible air leaks
the air filter box and element
The map sensor
because of the high fuel consumption,10-13 litres per hundred,i checked the fuel return lines to the tank and could blow through them
Yet it still hunts at idle occasionally it will drop to 800rpm but mostly sits at 1000
The only component I have not removed is the steel tube that runs to back of the inlet manifold,
Does this get blocked?
If there is an air pocket in the idle air control valve can refilling the cooling system via the radiator top hose resolve the problem?
Help greatly appreciated
I have not pulled the thermostat,but it was replaced shortly before i got the car,and i believe it to work as the car never gets hot and the fans engage automatically.
