Hi

I have a 4agze in my AE82 and it seems to run a bit hot. During normal driving water temp sits between 80-100 degrees C (180-220 F) but as soon as you give it a little bit of acceleration or put it under load/boost the temp can spike to 100-120 degrees C (220-260 F) in only a short period. After some steddy driving it will come back down to around 100 C. Is this a normal temp range? Considering it is still winter, I would have thought that was a bit hot...
Car has new aluminium thicker radiator, new hi-flow thermostat and new coolant. Also running a FMIC, Nevo 11psi Pulley and extractors

Cheers,
Liam

What "new" coolant are you running? What's the condition of the water pump like?

ZE generally runs high temperatures but best advise is to get yourself a Oil Cooler to bring the engine temperature down a bitPosted Image
I need to fit my Oil Cooler before summer time

Running brand new Nulon Anti Freeze/Anti boil at 50% concentrate and have flushed the system several times with flush and water. Unsure of the water pump condition, when I put the engine in it "appeared" to be newish. It appears to be getting flow though. It is however pushing the coolant out the over-flow bottle, could this be a sign of the water pump?

Have been looking at doing a remote oil filter and cooler kit so will look at putting one on soon, definately before summer time

Try throwing in less water in the over-flow bottle to check if it still pushes up water. You must never fill up the over-flow bottle completely.

Its not over full but I will try it a bit lower and see how that goes.

What size radiator cap should be on this engine too? I can only find a list on the 4age which is a 90psi cap. Is this right?

No such thing as a '90psi' cap. Avoid any company that makes a mistake like that. You should be seeing something like 0.9 or 1.2 BAR, not PSI, but if it is PSI. it'll be around 12-24.
No, it just makes the coolant go around & around or it doesn't or just leaks. BHG is pushing it out, or radiator is VERY clogged combined with a bad cap.

Also, looped heater hoses instead of blocking them off???

Sorry my mistake, I ment 90 KPA which is 13 PSI

Radiator and cap are brand new... Have thought it was a BHG but that wasn't the answer I was looking for! Would a compression test confirm this?

Pretty sure the heater hoses are right, none of them are looped or blocked off. There are two hoses that go up to the back of the throttle body, these can't be around the wrong way?

Cheers

My current cap is 0.6 bar and the TRD cap is set for 1.4bar...Also try cleaning the water pipes and check if it's not to clog up.
