Hi

I have been working on an AE92 which has had a AE101 4agte fitted to it. Every thing was working fine on it, had it running, timing and TPS where set correctly and it was running nice and smooth. But then as I thought I was all complete I noticed that the fuel pump relay was clicking really loudly and when the throttle was slightly opened it would cough and splutter and eventually die. The relay was replaced but the brand new item did the same thing and not long after I couldnt even get the car to start (it would turn over and crank but not fire/not getting any spark) ECU was disconnected over night and when I plugged it back in it started and idled but still had fuel pump relay clicking and misfired with opening of the throttle...

Any one know what this could be???

Have tried a new CAS (which I know was working), ignitor (was a different part numbr out of AE92 AFM motor but it plugged in), different batteries, checked wiring and earths and added extra earths, checked ECU power and earths as well. ECU is only outputting approx 6 volts to the fuel pump relay, is this correct?

ECU should be sending signal voltage to Relay for the pump, Not the pump itself, So im not 100% but I think 6v should do it, Sounds like mabye the pump, or the circuit to the pump may have high resistance. and is overheating the relay.

Cant be sure. if connector to fuel pump is easly accessed try load testing the circuit with the pump disconected. If symptom contines, Voltage drop test the power feed wire from relay connection all the way to the pump connector.

Also, Check anouther relay signal voltage in your box(Pref the same exact relay type) and see if the signal voltage there is 6v as well

Check ECU cap's. If they are leaking then it can cause all sorts of strange ande random problems.
