Hi there, have had this problem with my 4agze ae92 stock engine for a while now. Car has been parked up for the last 4 months now, as it would not start at random after a drive to the mall or wherever I went. Had the starter motor reconditioned, new battery, alternator has a new coil, new spark plug leads, spark plugs, water pump, oil seals. The odd times that it would start I checked the alt, the alternator was charging the battery fine as my meter was reading 14.5V when running. The starter motor has 12V on its terminals as i checked that and even bench tested it off my battery and it popped out and spun. Have checked all the connections on the back of my ignition barrel and they'r all fixed. I don't know what each wire does though, the brown, black, blue with stripes etc. Then thought it may be the wiring from the alarm immobilizer running off through the ignition, so checked those connections and were all good. Took the car into the mechanics a while ago as it would start sometimes like normal, very quick to crank over and run. He put and new battery in it, charged me an arm and a leg and told me that was the problem, and it started for 2 weeks so believed him. Then it went back to normal, wouldn't start after a drive when warm. Has since sat in the driveway for 4months.
I checked my battery prior to starting and it reads 12.75V. When I turn my ignition to on, the stereo lights up the clock lights up etc, then when I turn to start it makes one clicking sound, not very loud but enough to hear when sitting inside and that is all, no cranking at all.
After reading past posts and topics I now think it could be a fuel pump issue? Or an earthing issue throughout the engine bay??
Such a frustrating problem!
Hope you guys take the time to help!!!!

Nothing at all to come anywhere close to a hint that it's the pump since it doesn't even crank!!!!!! Really WAG!
Condition & cleanliness of both battery terminals AND ALL the engine to frame/body/chassis grounds needs to be OK.

Have just checked my grounds, have found that the one running from my engine block to the engine bay wall is very melted at the plastic connector. Is this one of 'the big three', thus causing my battery to go dead after a few weeks of driving. Cheers

What means big 3?????
Wire terminal's plastic/insulators should never melt, it's a sign of overload, a large current draw through a small ground like that one is because the large one isn't doing its job, most likely bad contact/connection causing its high resistance.
Batteries go from being bad, undercharged or something is draining it - a short to ground or an accessory is on like a trunk light.

I have an error 12 showing on my dash lights, what are the first things or most common faults surrounding this error code to check
