i have recently bought a 1981 TE72 SE T-18 with a 1.8l 3T-C, mark 1 spitfire wheels 13inch, and the colour is blue. i have got it a week ago, serviced the car changed plugs, leads, points, rotor plug, oil filter, etc and its running sweet but its stock.

I just have a few ideas from what i have seen and heard about these cars and want to take on a project. Maybe.

in my area ive seen a T-18 with a 3.5l Rover V8 and another with a 4.2l V8 in the engine bay.

i thought this would be awsome and still think about a v8 but then i thought of other options

-3S-GTE
-3T-GTE
-2TG
-3TG
-Commodore V6
-2TG or 3TG head on the standard block.
-or headers and webber on the stock motor
-or sell it and buy a sprinter which are selling for a mint these days

i want to make about 400hp with the turbo motors or a V8 and around 200-250hp with a NA 3TG and just want some input from you guys as to what i should do. Thanks

I'm about to buy a TE72 (T18) With a 3TG bottom end and a 2TG top end. Pushes about 70kw without cam tuning or the carbies running in synch.

When changing an engine within a toyota chassis stay within the family tree. Don't wander off into the commodore scene or Ford (alot more messing around). I would go 3sgte, upgrade the internals and turbo as well as some suspension modifications. Then you will be a happy chappy.
